Motorists to Get Relief as Saidabad-Santoshnagar Flyover to Open in Aug

Hyderabad: As the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) prepares to inaugurate the newly constructed flyover in August, there is some good news for motorists traveling from Nalgonda junction near Malakpet and heading towards Saidabad and IS Sadan near Santoshnagar.
This was stated by GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, who inspected the construction work here on Tuesday. He along with Chief Engineer S Ratnakar and senior engineering wing officials inspected the ongoing work on the flyover and reviewed the progress to ensure timely completion.
During the inspection, the Commissioner directed the officials to expedite all pending works, including laying of service roads and completion of Akbarbagh up ramp and remaining ramps, installation of crash barriers, road markings, street lighting, gardening and landscaping work under the flyover as well as laying of IT road on the flyover.
Speaking to media persons, he said that the construction of the 3.3 km long flyover has been started at a cost of Rs.620 crore. Following the completion of land acquisition, work has accelerated in the last year.
Work progressed slowly due to land acquisition and subsequent legal problems. However, the work has accelerated in the last year. “We will open the overpass for the convenience of drivers in August,” he said.
Starting from Akberbagh, one ramp of the flyover will descend towards Saidabad towards Karmanghat and another will proceed from IS Sadan towards Owaisi Hospital and RGIA in Shamshabad.
It took 45 minutes to reach ISIS Sadan from Akberbagh due to traffic congestion. Ratnakar announced that once the flyover is opened, the travel time for those traveling from Akberbagh to IS Sadan will reduce from 45 minutes to eight minutes.
He said that the new flyover will overcome the traffic problems faced by motorists traveling from Akberbagh to Saidabad on ISIS Sadan visa.
