Simon Carman ‘broke down’ after his mum messaged him following Thai suitcase murder accusation

Suspected murderer Simon Peter Carman was reportedly “overwhelmed” after receiving a text message from his mother following his arrest for the murder of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla.
The WA man is accused of killing the teenager and stuffing his body into a bag before dumping it near railway tracks in Pattaya and trying to flee the country on a Jetstar flight to Perth.
It is understood that the suspected killer’s mother, Wendy Carman, initially believed that CCTV footage showing her son with the young girl before her death had been created using artificial intelligence as part of a scam.
But a police source told the Daily Mail that Ms Carman sent him a frantic message after seeing her son’s photo in the media about Tunchanok’s alleged murder.
According to reports, the first message Mr. Carman saw after authorities returned his cellphone after his arrest was from his mother.
“There is a period of time after his arrest but before his first court appearance during which the judge will decide whether the suspect should be released on bail or sent to a detention centre,” a police source told the broadcaster.
“During these hours, you can use your phone if it is no longer needed as police evidence.”
The source added that Mr Carman became emotional after reading the content of his mother’s message.

“He broke down and said, ‘Even my mother heard about it,’” they added.
“He was very upset when he read the message from her and I think the reality of the situation finally set in.
“He had given a very realistic statement before.
Mr Carman is accused of the teenager’s murder and is being held in Pattaya Remand Prison.
If convicted, he faces the death penalty or life imprisonment.
