Orioles send Trevor Rogers, and we should bet to back his hot streak on the mound

Yesterday was a strong day for those who followed.

We bet on the Toronto Blue Jays and their starting pitcher Dylan Cease threw a no-hitter through eight innings before losing out in the top of the ninth. Interestingly, I mentioned that both starters can close out the entire game. Cease would have done it if his shooting count had been a little lower; He had 11 hits. Let’s try to get another clean scan today.

The Chicago Cubs are in one of their best seasons again. When I’ve covered them in the past, I’ve talked a little bit about how their season has been. The Cubs had two ten-game winning streaks and a ten-game losing streak. This is unusual for a team. Offensively, the Cubs are led by Pete Crow-Armstrong, who is quickly becoming one of the most polarizing figures in the game. There is no denying his talent, but there are moments when you can see that he is 24 years old. This is not a hit; This is the reality of the situation.

If the Cubs want to get where they want to go, this team definitely needs to add some pitching. The starters have been decimated, with all but one of the five players on Opening Day (I think) spending time on the injured list at this point. The Cubs traded for today’s starter, David Peterson.

His first start with the Cubbies didn’t go well, giving up 10 earned runs on nine hits in 3.2 innings. Maybe something could be adjusted in the mechanics, because it was good in some games and terrible in others. The good news is that Orioles’ hitters didn’t hit Peterson well, batting just .139 against him in 36 at-bats.

The Baltimore Orioles’ season has been a disaster, and they’re starting to run out of time to turn it around. This was a year in which they expected to adapt and return to the success they found two years ago. Just a few years ago, this was a team whose future was seen as bright due to its young talents. His shots aren’t exactly in sync with the development of his swing and that’s definitely part of the problem. Being in the American League East does them no favors either, as it is one of the most difficult leagues to play in.

They’re sending Trevor Rogers to the mound today in hopes he can avoid a sweep. On the season, Rogers is 6-7 with a 4.70 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. Neither of these numbers are very encouraging. The fact that he also has a 5.02 home ERA is another cause for concern. However, there is one positive that can be eliminated, and that is his current form. He’s been solid lately, allowing just seven earned runs over his last 35.2 innings of work. Cubs’ hitters had good success against him, striking out 12 in 48 at-bats.

Crow-Armstrong had another strong game yesterday, so it would probably be wise to back him as he continues his hot hitting. But this time I probably won’t go too much into gaming gear. I’ve noticed it’s been a little harder for me to be consistently good lately, but I still like to mention it for those who play or enjoy fantasy.

Instead, my play will be to continue to weaken Peterson until he proves he has made the necessary adjustments. I think the Cubs will eventually turn him down, but I’m not comfortable backing him. Give me the birdies on this one as I think Baltimore avoids sweeping Chicago.
