Fire at city hotel sparks panic on Friday evening

A fire broke out at Hotel Highland in Thampanoor on Friday evening, leading to the rapid evacuation of hotel guests. According to the Fire and Rescue Services, there was no loss of life in the incident.

According to the information provided by Fire and Rescue personnel, smoke filled the ground and first floors after the fire broke out in the chimney of the hotel’s kitchen. The Fire and Rescue unit at nearby Chenkalchoola received the alert around 5.15pm, following which four fire engines were sent to the hotel on Manjalikulam Road.

According to Chenkalchoola Fire and Rescue Services, the fire was extinguished at 18.30. The Fire and Rescue personnel were led by District Fire Officer Sooraj, Station Officer Aneesh Kumar and Senior Fire and Rescue Officer Jithesh Babu.
