Naxal Dumps Yielding Gold Biscuits, Cash, Arms And Ammunition, Explosives Recovered In Bastar
-Raipur: Several Maoist dumpsters containing gold biscuits, cash, weapons, ammunition and explosives were seized from various parts of forests in Bastar in Chhattisgarh on Sunday by security personnel following information from surrendered Naxals.
Acting on information provided by surrendered Maoists, security forces found a Naxal dump in the Todma forest under Barsur area in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh’s south Bastar, a senior district police officer said.
According to Dantewada district police chief Gaurav Ray, 116 grams of gold biscuits worth Rs 16 lakh, cash of Rs two lakh, one INSAS assault rifle, 16 INSAS magazines, four AK 47 magazines, 68 AK 47 magazines, 23 SLR (Self-Loading Rifle) magazines and 34 SLR cartridges were seized from the Maoist dump.
Apart from this, 5 12 caliber guns, 7 12 caliber cartridges, 3 BGL (Barreled Grenade Launchers), 1 BGL cell, 2 carbine magazines, 8 .303 cartridges, 45 .303 magazines, 6 8 mm cartridges, 10 domestic weapons, 1 revolver and 1 pistol were seized in the dump.
The explosives seized from the dump include six tiffin bombs, four pipe bombs, 122 arrow bombs, one money bomb, two handmade hand grenades, two handmade mortars, gelatin, 20 detonators, a pack of codex wire and 14 burners used to make pressure cooker bombs.
In a separate incident, a Naxal garbage dump was found by security personnel near the Kanker-Narayanpur border in Bastar under Koyelibeda police station in Kanker district, police said.
Police said weapons, electronic gadgets and other Naxal material were seized from the dump.
The Maoist dump was unearthed during police patrolling the forest area.
Following information given by surrendered Maoists, many Maoist dumps have been rescued in the Bastar forests in the last few months.
Bastar was declared free from armed Maoist activities on 31 March 2026.
