Boy dies in hospital after being hit by lorry: Driver, 48, is arrested

A little boy died after being hit by a truck during work hours.
Essex Police were called to Epping Road, Ongar, at around 4.20pm on Friday, where a 48-year-old man from Derbyshire was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has since been held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after the child died in hospital.
The man was released on bail until mid-September while officers continued their investigation.
Referring to incident 1045 of July 10, police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam, CCTV or other footage to contact them.
A police spokesman said: ‘Officers investigating the fatal collision in Ongar continue to appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage.
‘We were called to a collision involving a lorry and a child on Epping Road at around 4.20pm on Friday 10 July.

‘The child was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where unfortunately he died. His family is supported by expert police officers.
‘The truck driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
‘A 48-year-old man from Derbyshire was arrested again on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
‘He was released on bail until mid-September while our investigation continues.
‘The road was closed while we investigated the scene.
‘The investigation is being carried out by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit and they continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone who was driving nearby at the time and may have captured dashcam footage to contact them.
