Four Americans have reportedly been captured in a fiery multi-vehicle crash in Mexico that killed at least 10 people and injured nearly 10 others.
The major accident occurred Sunday after a tractor-trailer crashed into multiple vehicles on a highway in the western state of Jalisco, according to the Nayarit Secretariat for Security and Citizen Protection.
The agency reported 10 deaths, while the Mexican Army, Air Force and National Guard reported nine deaths.
Jalisco Civil Protection told Reuters that four Americans suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

“Four patients, all U.S. citizens, in mild condition were transported from the highway by a private ambulance to Arboledas Hospital in Guadalajara,” Jalisco Civil Protection said. he said.
Reuters reported that two of the dead were minors.
The other two injured were identified as National Guard members who suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital in Guadalajara, according to Reuters.
Videos circulating on social media show many vehicles engulfed in flames along the highway connecting Guadalajara and Tepic, sending large clouds of black smoke into the air.

According to Mexican authorities, the accident occurred when a tractor trailer’s brakes failed and it crashed into a row of vehicles that had stopped due to a previous accident.
“According to initial reports, a trailer reportedly experienced a malfunction in its brake system and crashed into multiple vehicles that were stopped due to a previous incident,” the Mexican Army, Air Force and National Guard said in a post on X. he said.

It was reported that the first accident occurred when two tractor trailers collided from behind. According to the Nayarit Secretariat for Security and Citizen Protection, a third tractor-trailer crashed into the scene while emergency crews were responding.
Authorities said, “As a result of this second collision, 3 private vehicles and 2 tractor trailers were completely destroyed by the fire.” “Additionally, two other private vehicles and an official National Guard Dodge Charger unit sustained property damage.”
