There has been intense speculation about Donald Trump’s health in recent years, but one journalist has claimed that the US President is completely unconcerned about the issue.
Trump turned 80 in June, and rumors about his mental and physical condition have been circulating since he claimed victory in the 2024 Presidential Election.
His doctor, Capt. Sean Barbabella, declared Trump “in excellent health” following his annual medical exam in May.
The president’s bruised hands and swollen legs have led to concerns and assumptions about his health, while also raising questions about his cognitive abilities.
But Michael Wolff, who has written four books about Trump, believes the President is unlikely to dwell on his own mortality because of a trait that “sets him apart from the rest of humanity.”
The debate sparked in a recent episode of The Daily Beast podcast when the publication’s chief content officer, Joanna Coles, suggested that Trump had become “obsessed with death.”
But Wolff remains unconvinced that such assessments would significantly upset the President.
He said: “I doubt Trump ever really thinks existentially about anything in that way. And to the extent that he thinks about his own mortality, that means he sees it as something that has no end.”
“There is no immediate death even for an 80-year-old; by immediate death I don’t mean anything in the medium or even long term.

Wolff’s first book, Trump, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, was dismissed as “trashy tabloid fiction” by then-press secretary Sarah Sanders.
However, the journalist claims to have conducted more than 200 interviews with Trump and his team over an 18-month period.
Maggie Haberman co-authored a book about Trump’s second term titled Regime Change with fellow journalist Jonathan Swan.
Speaking on The Bulwark podcast, Maggie was questioned by Tim Miller about Trump’s bedroom habits. Tim observed that the description of Trump’s bedroom looked “disgusting,” especially the packaging and popsicle molds.
Although the podcast host pointed out the Starbucks wrappers, Maggie admitted that it was a typo that has now been corrected and that she should have read about the Starburst wrappers instead. However, he suggested that Trump’s behavior gave the impression that he was competing with his wife, Melania Trump, over who could secure the upper bedroom.
Maggie said: “When they came back to the White House the Trumps wanted things to go back to the way they were before, as if they hadn’t left.
“And actually the Bidens, on the décor front, didn’t change much of what the Trumps had done, except that Melania Trump wasn’t there for the first few months and so Trump was clearing items from the center hall of the residence where he believed the staff wanted the location.
“To White House insiders, he appeared to be vying for a better bedroom than his wife, but neither of them had the same bedroom.
“His bedroom had, among other things, a carpeted bathroom and he was snacking late at night. The staff started watching the silverware because some was disappearing into the trash. He lives the way he lives.”
