TCS to lay off over 12,000 employees this year; mid, senior level staff to be impacted
New Delhi, July 27 (PTI) India’s largest CT Services company TATA Consulting Services (TCS), this year, approximately 2 or 12.261 employees of the global labor force will be revealed with the majority of those belonging to medium and senior classes.
As of June 30, 2025, TCS’s labor force was 6.13.069. In the recent April-June quarter, it increased its labor force by 5,000 employees.
TCS, TCS, said in a statement, the movement, technology, AI distribution, market expansion and labor reorganization focusing on the “ready for the future” strategy is part of the strategy, he said.
“TCS includes strategic initiatives on multiple fronts, including to invest in new fields of technology, to invest in new markets, to distribute AI for our customers and ourselves, to deepen our partnerships, to create a new generation infrastructure and to rearrange our labor force model.
“Towards this, attempts to reorganize and revolutionize a series of reorganization. As part of this journey, we will publish partners from the organization that cannot be deployed. This will affect approximately 2 percent of our global labor, primarily in the middle and high -level notes.” He said.
TCS will provide appropriate benefits, displacement, consultancy and support to the affected employees.
The movement comes at a time when India’s best IT services companies, macroeconomic instability and geopolitical tensions focus on global technology demand and delay the customer decision -making, in June in one June, a single -digit income increased at a time.

Krithivasan explained that the delays in the previous quarter of the decision -making process are now “intensified” and hoped that optional expenditures – the primary carrier of income growth for CT companies would return after the uncertainties increased.
Globally, Microsoft, the second most valuable company after NVIDIA, has dismissed more than 15,000 employees in 2025, so 7 percent of the company’s global labor force.
In a note of more than 200,000 employees last week, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that this year’s layoffs were “very heavy”.
“This is the mystery of success in a sector without a franchise.” He said.
“Progress is not linear. Dynamic, sometimes in harmony and always demands. But at the same time we have more effects than ever before, we have a greater impact.”
According to Layoffs.fyi, a platform following the dismissal of the global technology industry, more than 80,000 technology workers were dismissed to 169 technology companies in only 2025.
