President Donald Trump harshly criticized New York Governor Kathy Hochul on Wednesday: Real Social He stated that the state should “IMMEDIATELY” change its new data center moratorium after becoming the first state in the US to impose such a ban.

A new state executive order signed by the governor on Tuesday bans the construction of large-scale data centers that use 50 or more megawatts of power for up to one year.

“New York State made a terrible decision,” Trump wrote on Wednesday.

As demand for AI soars and utility prices continue to soar, a national outcry over data center clean water and energy consumption has grown, fueling groundbreaking infrastructure construction.

“As data center development threatens to increase utility bills, deplete our natural resources, and create uncertainty for New Yorkers, it is my responsibility to take action and lead,” Hochul said in a press release announcing the moratorium. he said.

Concerns about how data centers will be able to cover their electricity costs are floating ahead of the midterm elections as Democrats target affordability issues and residents remain angry about new developments.

Trump’s post also called for data centers to “pay” for their own water and electricity, with any leftovers returning to the state and local communities.
