Social activist Anna Hazare observed a two-hour observation mahogany andolan (silent protest) in Ahilyanagar in Maharashtra to extend support to protesting students in Delhi.

“Anna started her protest at 11 am and ended at 1 pm,” said Datta Awari, the social activist’s aide. PTI.

Hazare, who organized the protest at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Ahilyanagar, then set out for his village Ralegan Siddhi in the same district.

“The news of violence and police action is extremely painful,” Mr. Hazare wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
