Daniel Toutounji arrested at Sydney airport
Daniel Toutounji, a senior member of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang, has been arrested for drug supply and proceeds of crime more than eight years after leaving Australia.
NSW Police’s anti-cycling Raptor Team and officers from the Australian Border Force raided Toutounji at Sydney Airport on Friday morning. He had been wanted since 2018, when police allegedly found cocaine and several firearms during a search of his Sydney home.
The 37-year-old is believed to have left Australia around the same time and has been living between Eastern Europe and the Middle East ever since. At the time, Toutounji was allegedly a senior member of Comanchero’s expanding network. His current role within the gang and his reason for returning to Australia are also unclear.
Toutounji is one of several Comanchero members to have left Australia in the last decade amid increased police scrutiny of the powerful gang, which has long been a major player in the country’s illegal drugs trade.
