18-storey building of apartment complex in Bengaluru to be demolished

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has allowed the demolition of a tower at an apartment complex in southeast Bengaluru after its 18-storey wing collapsed.

Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao on Thursday held a meeting with Bengaluru South City Corporation officials after a private builder applied for demolition permission. Mr Rao said Hindu He said it wasn’t a major slope, just a minor issue, after which the builder applied for a permit. He said permission was given now.

According to GBA sources, the wing planned to be demolished is one of the five wings of the tower. The wing consists of 49 residential units, none of which have been occupied so far. Although no housing units were used, the builder was instructed to take all safety precautions on site.
