RICHARD EDEN: Fearne Cotton hasn’t called since split with Jesse, says Jo Wood

Fearne Cotton has become a ‘wellness’ guru after leaving Radio 1 for her health, winning over a new generation of fans with her podcast Happy Place.

But the 44-year-old broadcaster has left Jo Wood in an unhappy place since her split from stepson Jesse Wood.

Fearne and 49-year-old musician Jesse, the son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and his first wife, the late Krissy Findlay, announced that their marriage is ending in 2024 after ten years. The couple has a son named Rex and a daughter named Honey.

Jesse also has two children from a previous relationship.

At the time, Fearne insisted “everything was very amicable.”

But Jo, 71, who is close to Fearne, says the presenter has become estranged from the family after starting a new relationship with TV director Elliot Hegarty, 54, who she has been with since splitting from Jesse.

Fearne Cotton and Jo Wood were together at an event in Hyde Park in 2016. The pair were close friends before Fearne split from Jo’s stepson Jesse Wood.

“I haven’t spoken to Fearne since,” says former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Jo. ‘He didn’t call any of us – nothing.’ Jo adds on the Suddenly Single podcast: ‘I thought she wanted to start a new life with a new man and I thought that was okay.’

Fearne’s behavior was particularly disappointing for former model Jo because despite being devastated when he left her for an 18-year-old Russian cocktail waitress in 2008, she managed to remain friendly with Ronnie and his family.

Wanting to avoid antagonizing the woman she sees as a daughter, Jo adds: ‘I’ve got nothing against Fearne. I think he’s very nice and I understand that you can’t control yourself when you’re in love with someone. ‘I’m so happy for him.’

Fearne embraced her new era by getting a ‘new beginnings’ tattoo on her right hip.

Despite family changes, Jo remains a devoted grandmother figure to Fearne’s children. ‘Jesse’s kids call me Grandma Jo and my kids call me Grandma Gangster,’ she says.

Monty Python star Eric Idle, who will publish a book about his life in Provence this September, has announced that he had to leave his home due to forest fires.

‘We got a little too close for comfort, so we took shelter with a nearby friend,’ says Idle, 83. ‘We’re not burned, but the air smells disgusting.’

Argentinian players face football bans for violence that broke out on the field after losing the World Cup final to Spain on Sunday.

Weeping for Argentina was Dame Elaine Paige, who played the country’s former First Lady Eva Peron in the hit musical Evita.

‘It’s a shame that everyone keeps punching each other and getting aggressive,’ the 78-year-old actor told me on the first night of Trainspotting: The Musical at the Haymarket Theater in London’s West End.

‘It’s a game, for God’s sake.’

He adds: ‘We need to go back to my era, the 1960s and 70s. It was all peace, love and rock ‘n’ roll.’ Has he forgotten the exploits of football tough guys like Norman Hunter and Ron ‘Chopper’ Harris? Plus ca may change.

No-nonsense Nathalie sets the red line

Nathalie Emmanuel, Missandei advisor to Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, was dealing with fire-breathing dragons.

She also had to deal with a co-actor’s sexist comment on set about her revealing costume. And she was supported by Emilia Clarke, who played warrior queen Daenerys.

Now he tells me he won’t let bad behavior go unnoticed. “I’m getting better at this,” he says at a screening of his new film Echoes at Soho House on London’s Dean Street.

The 37-year-old Essex-born actor explains: ‘It’s important to have them [boundaries] and support each other too, because you want to create a set where everyone feels good and safe.’

He adds: ‘It shouldn’t be so painful or difficult that it hurts people. Creating a safe space is really important.”

West End star Ruthie Henshall has claimed Sarah Brightman was so worried about being overdone on stage that she ordered her ‘beautiful and intricate’ black dress dyed ahead of a concert attended by Prince Charles and Diana.

When Ruthie arrived she saw that the dress had turned ‘dull grey’.

In her newly published memoirs, she writes: ‘It was said that the leading lady wanted to see all the choruses’ outfits and felt that mine would distract from her performance. ‘I won’t name any names, but I have now forgiven Sarah Brightman.’

The hills come alive to the sound of £350million Kirsty’s strange boots

She’s nursing a broken heart but Kirsty Bertarelli has proven the show must go on.

Last month I revealed that Britain’s richest divorcee had split from boyfriend Marc Citron.

Now, the former Miss UK has gathered a group of friends to celebrate her 55th birthday with a Sound of Music-themed party. The women wore nuns’ clothes.

Jack claims royal class prank is ‘punching’

Many viewers were horrified when Jack Whitehall made an extremely rude and unfunny joke about Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip on Channel 4’s Big Fat Quiz of the Year in 2012.

But the comedian is now dismissive of those who complained to TV watchdog Ofcom, accusing them of ‘Middle England hysteria’.

‘It should be fair game between everyone,’ he says of the Royal Family.

‘You couldn’t have thrown any more punch.’

‘There’s definitely a sort of Middle England hysteria going on,’ Jack, a Marlborough College graduate whose friends include Princess Eugenie, tells US comedian Bill Maher.

Whitehall said in 2018 that he regretted the prank that upset his family and that he would be “much more careful” in the future.
