The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Philippine President Ferdinand Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos JR came to the National Başkent on Monday for a five-day state visit to India, which aims to further strengthen the India-Philipins relationship.
This is the first visit of the President of the Southeast Asian Country to India, because since it began to work in 2022, it points to an important milestone, since it is compatible with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
According to a mission by Mea in X, Marcos was welcomed by Foreign Minister Pabitra Margherita with a warm reception.

According to Mea’s statement, President Marcos will meet with other officials with President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He will also meet with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.
On August 5, he will put a wreath at Rajghat and follow this with PM Modi in Haydarabad House.

The Filipin President will later meet with JP Nadda and President Droupadi Murmu.

Diplomatic relations between India and the Philippines were founded in November 1949. Since then, both countries have developed a strong partnership in a large area such as trade and investment, defense and security, maritime cooperation, agriculture, health, pharmaceuticals and digital technologies. The two countries are also interested in the regional level, including ASEAN’s comprehensive strategic partnership.
The statement said that India’s relations with the Philippines were an integral pole of our ‘Eastern Law’ policy, Vision Mahasagar and Indo-Pacific vision.
The visit will act as an opportunity for both leaders to determine the future bilateral cooperation and to participate in regional and international mutual interests.
India and the Philippines share warm and versatile bilateral relations from historical ties and common democratic values. It covers various sectors such as cooperation, defense, trade, investment and cultural change.
