Israel-Gaza War Puts Billion-Dollar IMEC Project At Risk; India-Saudi Strains Leave China Smiling – Why This Corridor Matters | World News

New Delhi: The war in Gaza not only demands life. He’s dismantling billions of dollars from India to Europe. These include India, the USA, Saudi Arabia, the European Union and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a flagship connection project, India East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

The project had a great vision. Announced in September 2023 during the G20 Summit in the New Delhi, IMEC aimed to connect India with Europe through the Middle East. A number of modern railway networks, port, pipeline and digital infrastructure will form the backbone. Israel was expected to play a central role as a critical intersection of the corridor.

But the war changed it.

The struggle in Gaza triggered diplomatic cold fronts in the Arab world. Pledge crises and hunger deaths kept global headlines. The IMEC plan behind the curtain begins to look fragile. A few interviews connected to the normalization process of the corridor stopped. Political instability has created new doubts.

Investors are now cautious. Negotiations lost the momentum. Security concerns seem bigger. Reports from Israeli media organizations talk about fears that the project may now face uncertain delays.

The timing worked in favor of Beijing. The IMEC was seen as opposed to its own global infrastructure alliances and China’s Kemer and Road attempt (BRI). Stalled IMEC is a strategic breath for China. An opponent built to remove trade flows from the Chinese effect immediately eliminates competition from the corridor.

For India, IMEC was a geopolitical leap, as well as being a transportation network. Among his partners, he had the potential to raise India’s role in global trade with $ 47 trillion in GDP. The corridor also fits the wider push to develop new Delhi’s digital public infrastructure, to develop green energy ties and to explain the safe channels open to Europe and America.

Although the dream was not dead, it went out.

The longer the war in Gaza lasts, the harder the IMEC stakeholders to keep the political will alive. Saudi Arabia’s frustration in Israel’s war stance is deepening. Strategic harmony between common countries is studying. The risk of uncertain pause is no longer a whisper.

It depends on what IMEC has become a reality or whether there is a footnote in the G20 conversations.
