US judge orders halt to construction at ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ detention center | US immigration

On Thursday, a Federal Judge claimed whether lawyers claimed to have violated environmental laws, ordered a temporary stop for the construction of an immigrant detention center called “Crocodile Alcatraz ,, built in the middle of Florida Everglades.
The facility may continue to operate and hold prisoners for the US immigration and Customs Protection (ICE), but workers will be banned from adding new filler, lifting or infrastructure for the next 14 days. The US regional judge Kathleen Williams issued a decision during a hearing and said he would later give a written order on Thursday.
The environmental groups and the Miccosukee tribe asked Williams to stop operations and make a prerequisite decision for more construction. The case claims that the project threatens environmentally sensitive wetlands that host protected plants and animals and will reversed billions of dollars of environmental restoration.
