Man in his 70s arrested after mobility scooter driver allegedly punched in head

A man in his 70s was arrested after he was left in a critical position after he was allegedly punched by a scooter driver.

Northumbria police said that the officers received a report at the intersection with Nevinson Boulevard at the Whiteleas Way Döner Junction shortly after 15:30 on Saturday.

There was a discussion between a man in a Nissan Micra and a man traveling on a scooter on the road.

It was claimed that the man in the car went out and punched the victim’s head and neck and caused him to fall to the ground.

Emergency services joined the scene and the sacrifice – a man in their 60s – was taken to hospital with serious head injuries in a critical situation.

Police said he was arrested on suspicion that a man in his 70s caused great physical damage with intention.

He was released on bail waiting for more investigations.

The Northumbria police applied to the public for information and said on Sunday that he was “willing to watch witnesses in the region at that time.”
