CrossCountry rail strike set to cause bank holiday disruption

PA MediaA train operator warned people about industrial action to wait for a deterioration in railway services during the holiday weekend due to industrial action.
Crosscountry said that the strike of the RMT Union members would run a lower timeline on Saturday without any train work, a risk of cancellation on Sunday, and a lower timeline without a “very limited” service on Monday.
RMT, Crosscountry’nin personnel, security and wage agreements on the allegedly not honoring the members of the “strongly in favor of” voted members, he said.
General Manager Shiona Rolfe said that Crosscountry “committed to reach an agreement” and is ready to continue to meet with the union.
“Not to operate any service on Saturday, the bank holiday weekend of passengers on the weekend of the inevitable disruption of many travel is disappointing.” He said.
On Monday, the planned engineering activities in West Midlands will further affect the planned “very limited” service between 08:00 and 18:00, so some journeys will take longer.
National Express said it increases its weekend capacity in response to interruption.
Birmingham, Bradford, Bristol, Bolton, Cardiff, Hull, London, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield, Swansea and Wolverhampton will be added to 9,000 extra seats.

“If they want to strike and fight for their values, why not? There are places in the world we can’t do.”
