YSRC, TTD Contest Land Swap in Favour of Oberoi Hotels

TIRUPATI: The change of the land between Tirumala Devasthanams (TTD) and Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department led to a discussion between the YSR Congress (YSRC) party and the TTD administration. The opposition party accused TTD of compromising commercial interests.
Former TTD president and YSRC leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy claimed that Prime Minister N. Chandrabababu Naidu organized the transfer of high -valuable TTD property to Oberoi hotels by questionable change, which caused great losses for the trust of the temple.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Karunakar Redy, about 25 acres of TTD land worth approximately 1,500 CRORE in Tirupati, announced that the tourism department in rural areas has been changed for the low valuable land. He stressed that the temple could cause a damage that exceeds 1000 Crore for the temple management.
Former President of Devasthanam, on August 7, on May 7, 2025 on a government order to approve the stock exchange, a special TTD board meeting was held, he said. He questioned why the mention of the value of the land was removed from the agenda and why the property donated by the dedicated ones was called Inam Land.
Karunakar Redy said that this was doubtful of the transparency of the whole process. Despite the opposition of Chandrababu Naidu himself, he claimed that the whole movement was organized to allow Oberoi hotels to build a luxury property near the Holy Tirumala hills.
The former President of the TTD said, “This is not development, but the robbery of daylight.” The minister called on to protest the dedicated request of the government’s decision immediately.
Responding to the claims of Karunakar Reddy TTD, said the allegations wrong. Under the previous government, Lord Venkateswara’s 24.68 acres near Swami’s Holy Feet in Alipiri were allocated to Oberoi hotels in November 2021. This was worried about dedicated and religious organizations.
Following this, the TTD, November 2024, May 2025 and July 2025, the Holy Tirumala hills adjacent to the North area under TTD control to ensure that the cancellation of land allocation was passed. Instead, the Southern Lands were transferred to the tourism department along the Alipiri-Charlopalli road, where several structures are already.
TTD argued that decisions have been made to maintain the sanctity and security of the Tirumala hills and to meet the future needs of dedicated. The temple administration claimed that the allegations about the abuse of the temple land were unfounded and that they were not suitable for the feelings of the dedicated.
