Works on Anakkampoyil-Meppadi tunnel road get under way

Prime Minister Pinarayi vijayan, Anakkampoyil-Kalladi-Meppadi tunnel road is a turning point attempt that will lead to the development of the highland regions of the state government.
On Sunday, St. The Prime Minister, who initiated the work of the Twin Tunnel Road in Mary’s school, said the government has fulfilled its promise because it was included in the left democratic front election manifesto in 2021.
“This is one of the projects that many people expect to be realized. Yayla motorway and waterways continue. The state is trying to complete the projects that have been in the limo for a long time,” he said.
He said the plan was to complete the tunnel road within 60 months. “While offering an alternative to the Tumarasserry Ghat Road, it will be a great support for tourism, agriculture and trade sectors,” he added.
₹ 2,134.5-Crore Project
The 8.73 km road connects Thiruvambady Panchayat in the Kozhikode region to a 8.11 km tunnel between Marippuzha and Meenakshippalam in Meppadi Panchayat in the Wayanad region. 2,134.5 Crore is a project that will reduce the travel time between Anakmpoyil and Meppadi 22 km for one and a half hours and a distance of 22 km.
The project was financed by Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIİFB) as a special purpose tool with Konkan Railway Company LTD (KRCL). Tunnels Ltd. The Royal Infrastructure Company will develop ways of approach.
Planned Facilities
When completed, it is expected to be the longest twin tunnel road and the third longest tunnel road in the country. Ventilation will have modern facilities for safety and monitoring such as fire -fighting units, tunnel radio system, CCTV, escape route lighting, emergency call system and traffic signals. The two tunnels will be connected every 300 meters to prevent traffic congestion if necessary.
Public Works Minister Pa Mohamed Riyas, Finance Minister Kn Balagopal, Minister of Forestry and Wildlife Ak Sasendran, Planned Castes and Tribes Minister of Welfare or Kelu, Mlas Linto Joseph, T. Siddiique and PTA Rahim were present during the opening.
