Programme to train public in CPR to be launched on World Heart Day

The Health Department will launch a program to educate everyone at Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on 29 September World Heart Day.

Volunteer workers, Kudumbashree members, drivers, inhabitants associations, various armed forces and members of educational institutions and the people will receive CPR training in stages to be equipped to realize this life -saving measure in emergencies.

CPR is an emergency life -saving procedure/first aid with an emergency with a health emergency in which a person has a heart stop. If it is applied properly, CPR can help a person to remain alive by maintaining blood flow until the emergency hospitalized, or an automatic external defibrillator (AED) can be used to restore the person’s heartbeat and return to life.

Health Minister Veena George, said in a statement here, CPR Training for everyone, after understanding the importance of this life -saving measure after full understanding of the health department, he said.

CPR contains chest compression (hard and fast pushing in the middle of the chest) to maintain the blood flow to the brain and organs as well as recovery breaths to provide air to the lungs. If a person does not breathe and if there is no pulse, CPR can be started.

Permanent facility

The health department will prepare an action plan and modern models will be used to show CPR. In medical colleges, a permanent CPR Training Plant will be established with the help of cardiology departments.

The Indian Medicine Association and its member doctors will cooperate with the health department while implementing the training program. A standard short video will be prepared for training and made popular.
