Ideal Institute of Fine Arts recently organized the birth anniversary celebration of renowned artist VG Andani and the Drushya Bhushana Award distribution ceremony 2025 at Matoshree Neelaganga Andani Art Gallery here.

Inaugurating the program, former Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka Janapada University DB Naik said that the society always remembers those who work selflessly for the welfare of people and such individuals become immortal in the hearts of people.

Giving examples, he said, “Many kings and emperors have vanished into history, but figures like Mahatma Gandhi, who devoted their lives to the service of humanity, continue to inspire generations. Only those with such noble character can create history.”

Mr. Naik emphasized that art is a divine endeavor and requires both inner inspiration and dedication. As important as economic progress is to a nation, cultural growth is equally important, he said.

“As cultural wealth develops, it paves the way for social transformation,” he added.

“Art,” he noted, “is as important to human life as food and water. Ancient cave paintings remain evidence of the rich traditions of early civilizations.”

Praising VG Andani’s contribution to the cultural landscape of Kalaburagi, Mr. Naik said that thanks to his tireless efforts, the artistic landscape of the city has grown significantly.

“He identified and encouraged many artists in this region, helping them become known,” he said.

This year’s Drushya Bhushana Award was awarded to artist Chandrakanth VH Jalihal and Bengaluru-based artist Devaraj B.

While Kannada Nadu Lekhakara Sahakara Sangha president Apparao Akkoni was the chief guest of the event, senior artiste VG Andani presided over the event.

Kalavati and Gautam Andani, president of Ideal Institute of Fine Arts, were present.
