Mobile lounge crashes at Dulles Airport, 18 passengers hospitalized

A passenger lounge carrying people crashed into the dock at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Monday, sending 18 passengers to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
According to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when the vehicle crashed into the pier at an angle while approaching Concourse D. The dock is where the vehicle stops to allow passengers to enter the lounge.
“Passengers descended the stairs from the mobile lounge. They are being evaluated for possible injuries by Airport Authority Fire and Rescue personnel,” MWAA said in a statement. he said.

Authorities initially reported eight people were transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, but that number was later updated to 18.
It is unclear what caused the accident or whether there was significant damage to airport infrastructure or equipment.
According to the information provided by the authorities, the injured passengers were taken to the hospital by the fire brigade.

Passengers were allowed to descend from the mobile lounge via stairs. FOX 5 DC reported.
It is unclear what caused the incident or whether there was serious damage to any of the airport’s equipment. Fox News Digital has reached out to the airport for more information.

MWAA said the airport is open and operating normally.
The airport is located in Loudoun and Fairfax counties, approximately 26 miles west of Washington, DC, and serves the Washington metropolitan area.

According to the airport’s website, Dulles has 19 mobile lounges that can accommodate up to 102 passengers. Mobile lounges are approximately 54 feet long and 16 feet wide.
