TTV Dhinakaran mocks aunt Sasikala’s political party launch, likens it to ‘instant sambar, idli’

Celebrating the 78th birth anniversary of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in Ramanathapuram’s Kamuthi on February 24, Sasikala made a dramatic comeback in politics by announcing the formation of her own political party.
He unfurled the party flag bearing the pictures of former Chief Ministers CN Annadurai, MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa and targeted AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, who expelled him from the party.
Asked by the former interim general secretary of AIADMK about the launch of political parties, AMMK general secretary Dhinakaran told reporters: “Many new parties come up suddenly, instantly like sambar and instantly empty. In democracy, anyone can start a party.”
He claimed that no one could stop the true followers of Amma (Jayalalithaa) from standing together and forming Amma’s government. “All genuine followers of Amma – AMMK and AIADMK – are firmly together in the face of the upcoming Assembly elections. We will establish Amma’s rule in the state,” Dhinakaran told reporters in Tirunelveli on Tuesday. he said.
Without naming anyone, Dhinakaran said, “The true face of those who claimed to have established Amma’s rule in the state from the beginning has now been revealed.”
However, Sasikala’s sister Vanithamani’s son Dhinakaran had defended his aunt regarding the 2017 crisis in the AIADMK and claimed that the then Chief Minister O Panneerselvam had resigned not because of Sasikala but due to pressure from his own ministerial colleagues. Both Sasikala and Dhinakaran were expelled from the AIADMK by Panneerselvam and Palaniswami in August. Palaniswami, who took full control of the AIADMK in 2017 and later, removed Panneerselvam from the AIADMK in July 2022.
Just months before the Tamil Nadu elections, where a four-cornered race is likely with her arrival, Jayalalithaa’s former confidant announced the formation of a new political party and claimed that “we will witness a new political era”.
“To me, I have made a clear decision, this is for the good of Tamil Nadu, its people and our cadres; we will witness a new arena (chapter), we will start a new party, it will be a Dravidian party,” he added.
Explaining the events following Jayalalithaa’s death in December 2016, he harshly criticized the AIADMK chief and said that he appointed him as chief minister then and was very careful to ensure that the party-led government (2016-21) did not fall due to instability.
He said that the person he called the Prime Minister (Palaniswami) expelled him from the party “like throwing away a piece of paper”. “I do not show my anger and I learned this from Thalaivar (MGR),” he said.
About former CM O Panneerselvam -Palaniswami said that his decision to rebel when he was elected chief minister, pursuing ‘Dharma Yudham’ eventually led to problems and this continues for him today.
