ACB registers disproportionate assets case against HMWSSB General Manager, raids unearth assets worth ₹5.88 crore

Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a disproportionate assets case against Saggam Anantha Laxmi Kumar, General Manager (Engineering) Project Division-VIII, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Red Hills, Hyderabad.
According to the ACB, the 58-year-old official acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through corrupt practices and questionable methods while in office.
Authorities carried out searches on Tuesday at the officer’s home and eight other places linked to his relatives, friends, benamis and colleagues.
During searches, ACB unearthed documents pertaining to 18 acres of agricultural land, six open plots, three flats and a house in Nizamabad and Sangareddy areas in Hyderabad.
Authorities also seized around Rs 1.10 crore in cash, gold ornaments weighing around 2.1 kilograms and silver items weighing around 9.2 kilograms from the officer’s house. A car and a motorcycle were also found during the searches.

Jewelry and money were seized during the raid.
The total value of movable and immovable assets detected so far is around ₹ 5.88 crore, but the market value may be significantly higher than the documented value, ACB said.
Further verification of additional assets is ongoing and the case remains under investigation.
