‘Flaming flog’: Wild moment barefoot Aussie catches alleged fuel thief in the act, chases them off barefoot

An alert Australian has revealed he caught an alleged fuel thief in the act and chased him down in his bare feet.
James Longstaff, from the Gold Coast, was in the middle of a video editing session in the early hours when he looked at the CCTV footage and was alarmed by what he saw.
On closer inspection, he realized he had caught someone trying to smuggle fuel from a truck outside his business in Molendinar.
Undeterred, the 23-year-old man rushed out to confront the fraudster, barefoot and with his phone in hand.
In the images later published on the Instagram page, the alleged thief is seen approaching the vehicle while quickly exiting the vehicle.
In the video that has been watched thousands of times, he can be heard saying, “Oh brother, there are flames.” He then shouts at the driver: “What are you doing, man, what are you doing?”
As the vehicle accelerates, it leaves a pump hanging on the road and drips diesel.
Mr Longstaff is then heard shouting: “You’re dropping all my flaming diesel, what are you doing bro?”
He then jokes: “I’ve got myself a flaming free pump. Let’s go blazing”, then describes his opponent as “a flaming whip”.
The incident occurred at around 01.30 on Wednesday morning.
Speaking to 7News later the same day, Mr Longstaff said: “It was really just a one-second response. I was like, ‘Fuck this guy’.”
He said the mystery attacker returned a few minutes later, before Mr Longstaff came running back and fled once again.
He added: “I think the fuel crisis is unfortunate. I don’t think it’s fair for people to do these things.”
Mr Longstaff said he uploaded the video hoping it would help police track the suspect.
