Report finds widespread racism at Australian universities

Racism is a “pervasive” and “systemic” problem in Australian universities. report found. According to the Australian Human Rights Commission, nearly 80% of Indigenous, Chinese, African, Jewish and Middle Eastern students and staff surveyed say they have experienced racism at university.
Racial discrimination commissioner Giridharan Sivaraman described the findings in the Racism@Uni report as “distressing reading” at times. He added that this showed that universities did not fulfill their duty of care.
