Brixton drive-by shooting leaves four injured with one in critical condition

One man was fighting for his life and three people were taken to hospital after a drive-by shooting in Brixton, south London.

The Metropolitan Police were called just after 1am on Saturday following reports of gunshots on Coldharbour Lane in Brixton. Multiple shots were fired from the vehicle in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police officers, including specialist crime officers, arrived at the scene within four minutes and provided emergency first aid along with the London Ambulance Service.

4 people injured by bullets were taken to hospital; The life of a 25-year-old man remains in danger. The other three men, aged 21, 47 and 70, have injuries that are not considered life-threatening or life-altering.

No arrests have been made at this time, but detectives are working quickly to identify those responsible. No further details about the vehicle were given.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said police were working tirelessly to bring the suspects to justice.

“We understand how worrying this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working quickly to identify those responsible,” they said.

“This was an indiscriminate act of violence and we will work tirelessly to bring the suspects to justice. “It is vital that anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation comes forward.

“Local residents can expect an increased police presence in the area over the coming days. Please speak to officers if you have any concerns.”

Police have asked anyone with information or footage that could help them to call 101 quoting CAD 557/2May.
