Ade Edmondson has revealed how she and Bergerac co-star Zoe Wanamaker made an agreement not to show sex scenes in the series.
Ade, 69, is joining the cast of the second series of the popular series. He takes on the role of Nigel Morton, Charlie Hungerford’s love interest, played by Zoe (76).
Set to be released later this week, the actor explained why they gave up getting intimate in the bedroom in favor of a more romantic storyline.
‘My favorite scene was our bed scene. “There really aren’t many scenes, just a photo of us in bed,” Ade said. Mirror.
‘We both thought it was unnecessary to see people our age getting closer, so we decided to hold hands while sleeping. ‘We knew we got it right when we heard the director say “Awww”.’
Ade, who is married to Jennifer Saunders, continued: ‘I’m sure Zoe I wouldn’t mind if I told everyone he was as crazy as a box of frogs.
‘Some of the best people are like that. It is always very educational to work with people who are very good at their profession. ‘I learned a lot.’

Bergerac, starring John Nettles as detective Jim Bergerac, was a huge success when it was shown on the BBC between 1981 and 1991.
Viewers warmed to the show’s subplots about her love life and gorgeous places in Jersey.
The show was renewed in 2025 with Damien Molony taking on the role of the detective.
Robert Gilbert will once again take on the role of Barney Crozier; Lesley Sharp, Charles Dale, Turlough Convery, Georgina Rich and Jonathan Aris will also be part of the star cast.
