Woman charged with attempted murder after car crashes into pedestrians in central London

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after a car crashed into pedestrians in central London on Sunday morning.
Gabrielle Carrington, 29, of Broadfield Road, Manchester, has been charged with attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, causing actual bodily harm and drink driving, police said on Monday evening.
The Metropolitan Police said a woman in her 30s remained in life-threatening injuries and a man in his 50s suffered life-changing injuries after being struck by a car on Argyll Street, Westminster, at around 4.30am on Sunday.
Police said a second woman in her 30s also suffered minor injuries.
Carrington was remanded in custody ahead of his first appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. The Crown Prosecution Service said Carrington was also charged with dangerous driving.
Police said that the incident, which took place on Soho Street where the London Palladium Theater is located, was not considered to be related to terrorism.
David Malone, deputy chief prosecutor in north London, said: “We remind all concerned that the proceedings against the defendant are active and he is entitled to a fair trial.
“It is vital that there is no reporting, commenting or sharing of information online that could undermine these operations in any way.”
