Afghanistan Open to Talks After Pakistan Airstrikes Major Cities

Kabul: Afghanistan says it is open to talks after Pakistan launched airstrikes on several major cities and Islamabad’s defense minister declared the two countries “open war” after months of rising tensions and mutual attacks, Al Jazeera reported.

On Friday, Pakistan launched an attack on Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, the Taliban stronghold of Kandahar and other towns. Clashes continued along the border, with both sides reporting serious casualties.

Tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have intensified in recent months; Both sides have accused each other of retaliatory attacks, raising fears of a wider military conflict in the region.

Islamabad further escalated hostilities between neighboring countries by declaring “open war” after launching airstrikes on parts of Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia.

In a post on X, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif made a strong statement accusing the Taliban-led administration of harboring militants and exporting terrorism following the withdrawal of NATO forces. He said Pakistan had lost patience and described the situation as an “open war.”

Earlier, Pakistan Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Afghanistan carried out drone strikes on Abbottabad, Swabi and Nowshera, according to Tolo News. He added that anti-drone systems prevented drones and there was no loss of life.
