Magpies ruckman Oscar Steene injured his anterior cruciate ligament during a poor goal in the third term of last night’s defeat against Sydney.
Magpies general manager of football Charlie Gardiner said Steene would dedicate himself to his recovery.
“Oscar has worked so hard over the last few years to overcome injuries and get opportunities at AFL level, so we are all incredibly disappointed for him,” Gardiner said.
“Since his debut earlier this year, Oscar has been an exciting addition to the team with his athleticism and competitiveness and shows that he has a bright future ahead of him.
“This is an unfortunate setback for Oscar and we will support him, but he is a resilient and determined young man who we know will do everything to help him recover.”
