Accommodation and Assistance for Stranded Passengers

Air India said hotel accommodation was provided to all 255 passengers and 10 crew members, but some arrangements had to be made outside the airport perimeter due to limited availability. The airline has booked passengers on alternative flights for 20 October 2025 or later, subject to seat availability on Air India and other airlines.

Special Arrangements for Passengers with Expired Visas

A passenger whose Schengen visa was due to expire on Monday was rebooked on a flight with another airline on Sunday. The airline also confirmed that it continues to provide meals and necessary ground assistance to all affected passengers.

Air India Expresses Regret and Prioritizes Safety

Apologizing for the inconvenience caused, Air India reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner VT-ANN took off from Delhi as AI 137 at 14:54 on Friday, October 17, and reached its destination approximately nine hours later after taking a longer route through Pakistani airspace. During landing in Italy, a technical problem was detected in the aircraft which could be corrected in time to effect the return of AI 138 to Delhi.
