“I think it aligns with my belief,” he said ahead of the draft, discussing his partnership with Toyota. “My faith is very important to me. I fully believe that my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins, and I know that football is just a small stepping stone to why I am on this earth. I feel like I am on this earth for a greater cause, to bring people together to spread the word. The fact that I can do this on a big stage, the Lord has blessed me in so many ways, that gives me confidence.”

“I can play children’s games for fun, but I also know that everyone is watching every move I make. I realize that by spreading the good news, I can impact the lives of many people.”

Simpson, who spent his four college seasons at Alabama, embodies the motto “Faith, Family, Football” when also talking about his hometown of Martin, Tennessee.

It’s where I grew up. We’re proud of the 713 area code. In our house we always say ‘Made in Martin.’ So that’s something I look forward to being able to give back to my community wherever I go.”

“My sister was a basketball player and softball player growing up, so it’s really exciting and wonderful to see Toyota highlighting girls in sports,” Simpson added.

Toyota also covered NFL FLAG fall registration kit fees for current players in the Pittsburgh Flag Football League co-ed youth and high school girls leagues as part of this activation ahead of the live draft in the city.

Simpson waited until his fourth season to finally take the reins of the Alabama offense and made the best of the situation. He threw for 3,567 yards with 28 touchdowns and only five interceptions in 15 games for the Crimson Tide. But the 6-foot-1, 211-pound quarterback, who has been compared to Alabama graduate Mac Jones, is all over the place in terms of mock drafts.

In short, when the draft starts, even Simpson has no idea where he might be. But wherever he goes, Simpson knows he can make an impact.

And it starts with his faith.

“First round great” [but] Anytime you get drafted is great. There are so many different players from every different round of the NFL that are great at my position. That’s why I’m of the mindset that wherever I go, whenever that happens, I’ll do my best. Trust the process and be the best player I can be.”
