DK Shivakumar’s swearing-in ceremony as the chief minister of Karnataka will be held on June 3 at the Glass House at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru. According to KPCC Working President GC Chandrashekar, the decision was taken to reduce inconvenience to people.
Appealing to party workers not to come to the venue, he said that Mr. Shivakumar will go to district headquarters on dates to be announced later and meet and thank party workers and public.
“No passes will be issued. Some invitations have been printed to be delivered to the legislators. The decision to hold a simple swearing-in ceremony was KPCC’s and KPCC President Mr. Shivakumar also accepted it immediately,” he added.
The announcement was made ahead of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting scheduled to be held on May 30 at 16:00. The meeting, which comes after intense negotiations in New Delhi on May 29 in which factions sought a greater share of power, is expected to offer more clarity on the contours of the next government and the re-formation of the Cabinet.
