Albanese to travel across the ditch for leaders meeting

Defense, economic partnerships and security will be on the agenda of Prime Minister Anthony Arbanese when he meets New Zealand colleague.
Mr. Albania will spend the weekend in Queenstown for an annual Australian-Non Zealand Leaders meeting with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
In 2023, Mr. Albania, who visited retired Prime Minister Chris Hipkins at that time, will be the second time in Tasman.
Albania and Mr. Luxon represent the opposite ends of the political spectrum, but both confirmed that their nations shared a “deep and lasting bond” as friends, neighbors and allies.
“I am looking forward to discussing how we can work together to develop our single economic market, modernize the trade system based on rules, to deepen our alliance and to support our Pacific partners.” He said.
In 2009, the only economic market was established to enlarge trade between the two countries and to deepen investment connections, which facilitated trans-retail business.
The two -way trade between the two countries is worth $ 32 billion.
The cooperation between the two governments is wide, and more than half of the New Zealand cabinet has been visiting Australia since the beginning of the task of the Mr. Luxon government in the late 2023.
According to Wellington New Zealand Contemporary Chinese Research Center Director Jason Young, Victoria University of Contemporary Chinese Research Center Director Jason Young, China’s “complex” relationship between the opportunities and difficulties revealed will probably be the focus of talks behind the scenes.
“Both Prime Minister recently visited China.” He said.
“At least there were very good visits to balance and manage the public, economic relationship. But at the same time, there are many regional security problems that have an impact on both countries.”
The couple can also discuss the impact of US President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
While Mr. Trump collected dozens of tariffs against the countries, he showed mercy to Australia and most of them hired taxes against 10 percent against products.
However, the New Zealand did not survive and 15 percent “mutual” tariff was shot.
At the latest leader meeting in Canberra in 2024, they formed a luxon migration and a closer defense partnership.
David Capie, another professor of the University of Victoria, said that the Luxon government has been focusing on its partnership with Australia since its arrival.
“You have a New Zealand government who wants to do more with Australia,” NZ External and Defense Policy Specialist AAP said. He said.
“The Trump tariffs of the economic order with the Middle East – NZ and Australia find that they are very closely compatible.”
Nevertheless, deportation has for a long time protesting with stronger ties with Australia, as New Zealand for a long time protested Australia’s criminals with criminals kiwi passports.
After the 2024 meeting, the two leaders agreed to “closely interested” on this issue.
Prof Capie said the problem was not completely lost, but it was more precisely handled than the Morrison government period.
“You had a lot of exiles and basically a government based on it,” he said.
“But more importantly, structural changes in the right to find the way of citizenship of New Zealanda mean that it will be less and less over time.”
Mr. Arnavutça is expected to be met at a Pōwhiri with an official māori welcome ceremony before meeting with Mr. Luxon on Saturday.
In addition, Australia and New Zealand will meet with business leaders and will be in a business desk.
