Amazon invests ₹37 crores in water replenishment projects in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Mumbai

Amazon India announced that it has invested more on August 11th. La37 Crore in water supply projects throughout India. These projects are expected to restore more than 3 billion liters of water annually and benefit people in stressful communities.
The initiative is spreading to the four major urban centers (Bengaluru, Haydarabad, New Delhi and Mumbai) and supports Amazon’s goal of returning more water than it uses in their direct operations in India until 2027.
Amazon India and Australian Operation Vice President Abhinav Singh said, “Water safety requires one of India’s most urgent environmental difficulties, cooperative solutions between sectors,” he said.
“Through strategic investments in both urban and rural basins, not only address emergency water access problems, but also create long -term flexibility for the communities we operate. Each project is designed to support agricultural livelihoods, increase biological diversity and secure urban water resources.”
Yamuna River Basin Project
Amazon’s water portfolio, the restoration of Lake Yamare Lake near Bengaluru, and the Lake Sai Reddy, near Haydarabad, are in cooperation with Sayrees. Together, these lakes are expected to be renewed more than 570 million liters per year. In the new Delhi, the company works with Hasten Regeneration in a Yamuna River Basin project, which is expected to add 400 million liters of supply capacity.
In July, Amazon launched its first water supply project to combat the scarcity of water scarcity in Yamuna River Watershed and the extreme extraction of the groundwater in national capital.
This project is part of Amazon’s water -saving attempts in India. The company said in a statement that these initiatives contain large lake restoration efforts and community water solutions that have benefited more than 1 million people since 2020.
These initiatives use solutions such as description, repairing the formation of BUND, restoring input/output structures and building perculation pits to maximize water supply.
Amazon also announced the latest water investment – LaMaharashtra’s Vaitarna hydrobasine is 10 Crore projects that will fill 1.3 billion liters per year when completed in 2027. International semi-arid tropics (ICRISAT), this attempt, developed with the International Crops of Crop Tropies (ICRISAT) above Mumbai, supporting Mumbai, Fan-Farel production, use of water security for the metropolitan area of Mumbai.
These water supply attempts are compatible with Amazon’s broader sustainability commitments, including the goal of reaching the net zero carbon in operations by 2040 as the founding partner of the climate pledge.
Water safety represents one of India’s most urgent environmental difficulties and requires collaborative solutions between sectors.
