Amazon launches GLP-1 weight loss program

Amazon It is pushing deeper into the fast-growing weight-loss market by announcing a new program Tuesday aimed at simplifying access to popular GLP-1 treatments.
Its primary care arm, Amazon One Medical, has launched a GLP-1 stewardship program that integrates obesity treatment into routine care, the company said. The offering combines virtual and in-person visits, prescription management and pharmacy practice, positioning weight management as a long-term chronic condition rather than a one-time prescription.
“Providing customers with fast, easy medication access and clear, transparent pricing is an integral part of how Amazon Pharmacy is transforming the pharmacy experience,” Tanvi Patel, vice president and general manager of Amazon Pharmacy, said in the company’s speech. Press release.
“By expanding access to the latest GLP-1 drugs with clear pricing, we are making it easier for customers to receive the treatments their healthcare providers prescribe and continue using them because they reliably deliver these drugs directly to patients,” Patel said.
Through Amazon Pharmacy, patients will have access to medications including: Novo Nordisk Newer oral GLP-1 options as well as Wegovy. Amazon said pricing with insurance will start at $25 per month. It was stated that oral medications start at $149 per month for patients paying cash.
Injectable treatments, including Wegovy shots, and Eli Lilly Amazon said Zepbound will start at $299 per month when paid without insurance.
These prices are roughly in line with most of the current market.
But Amazon’s advantage is same-day delivery and convenience as it looks to extend its logistics network and consumer reach to another corner of the medical system.
The company also said it will offer on-demand prescription renewals starting at $29 for text consultations and $49 for video care. Amazon plans to expand its same-day medicine delivery offering to 4,500 cities by the end of 2026.
