Amazon It said Friday that Anthropic will continue to offer its AI technology to cloud customers, except for Department of Defense-related work.

The announcement comes after the federal agency notified Anthropic on Thursday that it would label the company a “supply chain risk.” Anthropic responded by saying it had no choice but to challenge the appointment in court.

“AWS customers and partners can continue to use Claude for all non-DoW-related workloads,” an Amazon Web Services spokesperson said in a statement. “For all DoW workloads using Anthropic technologies, we support our customers and partners as they migrate to alternatives running on AWS.”
