Diane Ladd’s cause of death revealed after Hollywood leged dies at 89

Diane Ladd’s cause of death has been announced two weeks after the Academy Award-nominated actress passed away at the age of 89.
On Monday, people magazine He obtained a death certificate stating that Ladd died acutely from chronic hypoxic respiratory failure.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, respiratory failure occurs when the lungs cannot properly exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide, and in “acute and chronic” cases, this means a sudden worsening of an existing long-term breathing problem.

The conditions that led to the actress’ death included interstitial lung disease, which had been progressing for years; Esophageal immobility was also listed as another important contributing factor. Interstitial lung disease is a long-term condition that causes scarring in the lung, while esophageal dysmotility affects the movement of the esophagus.
Ladd was cremated on November 10, according to his death certificate.

On November 3, Ladd’s daughter, Laura Dern, announced her mother’s death in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“My amazing hero and profound mothering talent passed by her this morning at her home in Ojai, California,” Dern wrote.
“She was the most amazing daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic soul that only dreams could create,” Dern added. “We were so lucky to have him. He is now flying with his angels.”
Fox News Digital has reached out to Dern’s representatives for comment.

Ladd was best known for her role in the “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” movies. “Wild at Heart” and “Rambling Rose,” all of which earned him Oscar nominations. His other credits include television appearances on “Naked City,” “Perry Mason” and “Mr. Novak,” and he has been nominated for three Emmy awards.
The actress made her film debut in the 1966 film “The Wild Angels”; she starred in this film alongside her then-husband Bruce Dern and long-time friend Peter Fonda. She made her last film appearance in the coming-of-age drama “Gigi & Nate,” releasing in 2022.
Dern has appeared in many films with her family, but her first was opposite Ladd in the 1990 film “Wild at Heart.”

Ladd was married three times during his life. Her first marriage was to Bruce Dern in 1960. They had two daughters, Diane and Laura. Diane died tragically in a swimming pool accident when she was 18 months old.

After her divorce from Bruce, Ladd dated William A. Shea Jr. from 1969 to 1976. He married. She was married to Robert Charles Hunter from 1990 until his death earlier this year at age 77.
In 2018, Ladd was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a life-threatening lung disease. After her diagnosis, Laura and Ladd began taking daily walks together while recording their conversations. Creating common memories, “Honey, Baby, Mine: A Mother and Daughter Talk Life, Death, Love (and Banana Pudding).”

Following Ladd’s death, 89-year-old Bruce released a statement paying tribute to his ex-wife. people magazine.
“Diane was an amazing actress,” the “Hateful Eight” star said. “He lived a good life. He saw things as they were. He was a great teammate to his fellow players. He was funny, smart and kind.”
“But most importantly to me, she has been a wonderful mother to our incredibly wonderful daughter,” she added. “And for that, I will be forever grateful.”

In addition to Dern, Ladd is survived by her grandchildren, Ellery Walker, 24, and Jaya Harper, 20. Dern shares Ellery and Jaya with her ex-husband, musician Ben Harper.
