Amid Protests And Trump’s Warning To Iran, India Issues Travel Advisory For Nationals | India News

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday issued an advisory to Indian citizens, asking them to avoid non-essential travel to Iran until further notice. This comes at a time when Iran is witnessing major protests in many cities over the depreciation of its national currency, the rial.

“Indian citizens and PIOs currently in Iran should take necessary precautions, avoid areas of protest and demonstration, and closely follow the news as well as the website and social media accounts of the Indian Embassy in Tehran,” an advisory issued by the MEA said. The statement was included.

“Indian citizens living in Iran with a residence visa are advised to register with the Indian Embassy if they have not already registered,” the statement said.

Warning from Trump to Iran

Clashes between security personnel and protesters in Iran have led to many deaths in Iran’s provinces. Meanwhile, earlier on Monday (India time), US President Donald Trump warned Tehran against resorting to violence to quell the demonstrations.

The United States has reportedly said it is closely monitoring the situation in Iran and will respond harshly if local officials start killing civilians.

While returning to the White House from Mar-a-Lago on Air Force One, the President was asked about reports of protesters being killed in Iran and his previous comments that the United States was “locked and loaded.”

“We’ll take a look,” Trump said. “We are watching very closely”

“If they start killing people like they have in the past, I think they will be hit very hard by the United States,” he said.

IANS reported that Trump did not specify what the US response might be or outline any immediate military or economic measures. Meanwhile, the United States has deployed significant military assets to the region.

The US President has previously accused Iran of violently suppressing dissent during past waves of protests and has used economic sanctions and military deterrence as tools of pressure.
