Analysis of ‘Yogi Model’ in Bihar

From bulldozer action to encounters, from seizure of mafia properties to Anti-Romeo Squad, Samrat Chaudhary’s decisions in Bihar bear the marks of UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

The change in responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bihar has brought about a new change in the working style of the government. Since Samrat Chaudhary became the Home Minister, law and order decisions have been taken that were previously unthinkable in the state. Bihar’s new government has made it clear that there will be no compromise on criminals, mafia and women’s safety.

In this regard, the influence of the Yogi Model is clearly visible on the new government of Bihar. From bulldozer action to encounters, from seizure of mafia properties to Anti-Romeo Squad, Samrat Chaudhary’s decisions in Bihar bear the traces of Yogi Adityanath.

Somewhere bulldozers are being used on mafia properties, somewhere else illegal encroachments on state lands are being eradicated. From the capital Patna to Kishanganj, the administration’s bulldozers are working at full speed. The number of bulldozers being used in Bihar these days is probably more than in the last five years. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Bihar rivals Uttar Pradesh in terms of bulldozer action.

Apart from the bulldozer action, the government in Bihar is also targeting mafia and criminals as in Uttar Pradesh. Samrat Chaudhary, Home Minister, announced the action plan against criminals after taking responsibility. The government identified 400 major criminals and submitted their lists to the court for immediate seizure of their illegal property. Preparations are continuing to seize the properties of approximately 1,300 criminals, including the liquor mafia, land mafia, sand mafia and contract killers.

This approach of the Bihar Police shows that it is no longer based solely on arresting criminals but is pursuing a strategy to eliminate all the economic power generated by crime. Seizing the property of criminals will help prevent crime by directly affecting their networking, financing and influence over crime. A similar action was taken against the mafia in Uttar Pradesh.

Like Uttar Pradesh, encounters with criminals have started in Bihar too. As soon as Samrat Chaudhary became the Home Minister, a notorious criminal was killed in a semi-encounter in Begusarai. Bihar Police has also decided to form an Anti-Romeo Team. An Anti-Romeo Squad consisting of 2,000 women police officers is being set up in Bihar to monitor schools and colleges. They will take action if they notice any acts of harassment during school hours. These policewomen will use scooters.

During this election campaign, NDA promised to develop industry in Bihar. But this is impossible without good law and order. The rapid crackdown on gangsters and rape is linked to this. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath demonstrated this. This is why the Bihar government adopted the Yogi model.
