Anita Rani shares details from her new relationship with ‘romantic’ boyfriend Alex Lavery – following split from her husband Bhupi Rehal

Anita Rani has revealed how romantic her boyfriend Alex Lavery was during their first year of dating.

Sharing intimate details about his dating life, the 48-year-old said: ‘He is not only handsome but also has a beautiful soul. She’s free-spirited and has really great energy.’

Anita has a huge passion for music and shared the most romantic thing Alex, 45, has done for her.

He explained that he bought him various records and played them for him. Anita loved them all but was confused as to how she knew to love them so much.

When asked, Anita said that she pays close attention to his taste in music and really listens whenever he talks about music. He said: ‘When you meet someone with a similar passion, there is nothing more satisfying than listening to music with them.’

Anita’s boyfriend Alex runs immersive sound experience company Frqncy Ldn, which ‘explores the effects of sound and the mind on the body’, and performed sound meditations as part of Glastonbury Festival’s wellness programme.

The duo made their public debut during London Fashion Week in September and were seen smiling at each other.

Anita and Alex plan to spend Christmas together with an open-door policy so any friends or family who have nowhere else to go can join them in London.

She said she has never been very good at decorating, but this year Anita planted a brand new tree and researched recipes.

Anita’s new relationship comes two years after she ended her 14-year marriage to tech executive Bhupinder Rehal in September 2023.

A year later, in September 2024, he said that ‘life is good’ and that he felt he was entering the ‘second chapter’ of his life.

He told Love Sunday Magazine: ‘Life is good, I’m in a good place. I focus on myself and my own desires.

‘It’s nice to be able to think about the second phase of my life. I called it Chapter Two.’

Anita met her ex-husband at a party in east London and married him in a Sikh ceremony in 2009, before splitting last September, believed to be a result of their busy schedules.

A source told The Mirror at the time: ‘It’s really sad but they’ve decided to split. ‘Sadly their busy schedules over the past few years have meant that they have drifted apart over time.’

In a candid piece for the Sunday Times, Anita admitted she found ‘freedom’ after her divorce and explained how she continued her single life in her forties.

Born and raised in Bradford, West Yorkshire, by an Indian-born Hindu father and an Indian-born Sikh mother, Anita also revealed how her upbringing influenced her approach to life.

He admitted that his family believed divorce was a ‘cardinal sin’, and while he admitted it was ‘not easy to talk about’, he wanted to detail how he felt about his life now ‘so that I wouldn’t be answerable to anyone’.
