Anti-encroachment Drive: Team gheraoed, earthmover torched

Bettiah: Villagers looted a forest department team, set fire to an earth mover and harmed another during an anti-encroachment drive in Bihar’s West Champaran district on Thursday, police said. Valmiki Nagar PS SHO Manoj Kumar told PTI that the villagers had been cultivating land for the last 20-25 years and claimed that they were not informed about this drive. Tensions escalated following alleged damage to the sugarcane crop.
