Anti-Paper Leak, SC Judges Bills on Agenda
New Delhi: The Union Government is set to introduce the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha on Monday, which aims to strengthen the legal framework against paper leaks and malpractices in national examinations.
According to the Lok Sabha Backlog, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will seek permission to introduce the bill to amend the Public Examinations (Prevention of Torts) Act, 2024. He will also request that the draft law be taken into consideration and accepted by the Parliament.
The proposed legislation comes at a time when there is greater focus on the integrity of national competitive examinations and is expected to introduce stricter measures to increase transparency and accountability in the examination system.
Lok Sabha will also take up the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal is set to consider the bill and submit it for passage.
However, the bill’s MPs Sougata Ray, NK Premachandran and Adv. It is likely to encounter opposition such as Dean Kuriakose is scheduled to submit a legal resolution in May 2026 disapproving of the Regulations issued by the President on the matter.
The Assembly will also present the reports of the Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilizers; one on the impact of rising drug prices on ordinary citizens, and the other on reviewing investments in fertilizer public sector initiatives.
Several Union Ministers, including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Jayant Chaudhary and Pankaj Chaudhary, will prepare official documents related to their respective ministries.
Minister of State Suresh Gopi is also scheduled to make eight statements on the status of implementation of recommendations made by the Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas in various budget cycles from 2019 to 2027.
In the Rajya Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will move the Prevention of Defamations bill to the National Dignity (Amendment) Bill, 2026 for consideration and passage.
The bill seeks to amend the Prevention of Insults to National Honor Act 1971; The government states that the changes are aimed at strengthening the legal framework that protects the dignity of national symbols and honors.
As the Parliament continues its legislative work on Monday, Union Ministers Satish Chandra Dubey, Sanjay Seth and Tokhan Sahu are also scheduled to submit documents related to the Ministries of Coal, Mines, Defence, Housing and Urban Development.
