Around 1,000 doctors, medical staff take part in network hospitals’ strike

Around 1,000 doctors and medical staff from 450 network hospitals participated in a protest organized by AP Private Hospitals Association (ASHA) to highlight their plight due to pending dues from the State government.

ASHA received support from the Indian Medical Association, AP Government Doctors Association, AP Junior Doctors Association and AP Nursing Homes Association. During the protest, representatives of all associations decided to form a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to determine the course of action in case the government does not pay the dues immediately.

While the state government released ₹250 crore on Wednesday night, network hospitals decided to continue the strike for the 15th day on Thursday. Dr. The total amount payable to network hospitals providing free treatment to the public under the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme is around ₹ 2,700 crore.

After network hospitals announced that their services would be stopped as of October 10, many patients began to come to public hospitals for treatment. According to the information obtained, many public hospitals are operating at full capacity.

“Dues are increasing and patients are suffering. Government hospitals in the state have seen an average increase of 25% in admission, emergency and outpatient services due to discontinuation of services under the scheme. Many patients are postponing their medical treatment,” said Jayadheer Babu, president of AP Government Doctors Association.
