Arunachal SIR draft roll sees 19% deletion, Chandigarh 12%

New Delhi: The draft electoral rolls for the Union Territories of Arunachal Pradesh and Chandigarh were released on Tuesday, recording deletion rates of 19% and 12.81% from the pre-SIR voter rolls, respectively.
In Arunachal Pradesh, 1.69 lakh out of 8.87 lakh voters were excluded from the draft list due to permanent displacement, untraceability and death. Requests and requests for rejoining can be made until August 20.
In Chandigarh, 66,147 out of 5,16,427 registered voters were removed from the draft list, taking the total deletion rate to 12.81%. Deletions include permanently changed voters (8.47%), absentee voters (2.43%), deceased persons (0.68%), duplicate registrations (0.50%) and other undisclosed cases (0.72%).
