World Artistic Gymnastics Championships: Israel athletes denied visas by Indonesia

The IGF demanded that Cas force the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to “take the necessary measures guaranteeing Israel’s participation in the championships” or “move or cancel” the event, which runs until October 25.
He said FIG’s failure to take action was a “denial of justice” and created “a situation of discrimination against a member association”.
In the statement made by Cas, it was stated that FIG had “no privilege” in granting entry visas and claimed that the Indonesian government’s decision not to grant visas was “beyond the authority” of the organization.
In the statement made by IGF, the following statements were made: “The rules are clear and Indonesia’s actions constitute a blatant violation of these rules.
“It is unthinkable that one country would ban another country from participating in the World Championships while the governing bodies are pending.
“This decision undermines the foundations of sport and fair competition and deals a serious blow to the morale of the gymnasts and staff who have worked tirelessly for this moment.”
Dolgopyat said on Instagram: “We are very disappointed on behalf of the male and female gymnasts and professional teams, but not only that, we are also deeply concerned by the recent decisions that may negatively affect the future of all our delegations and the future of the sport in general.
“We continue to fight in the hope of justice, but unfortunately we will no longer be able to compete in these World Championships.”
Dolgopyat was one of six gymnasts, along with Eyal Indig, Ron Pyatov, Lihie Raz, Yali Shoshani and Roni Shamay, who submitted a request to Cas along with the IGF.
Dolgopyat, 28, won gold on the Olympic ground at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics last year and silver in Paris. He is also a two-time European champion.
On Monday, 20 Israeli hostages and hundreds of Palestinian detainees living as part of a ceasefire agreement were reunited with their families.
