ASIO, police need to reflect on how Bondi killer assembled arsenal

The fact that anti-Semitic terrorist Sajid Akram assembled an arsenal of six rifles, completely legally under NSW law – the rifles used to kill 15 people in Sunday’s Hanukkah atrocity – is ground zero for a security policy failure that must also be reflected in our law enforcement and security agencies.
Akram was not an Australian citizen, he was only a resident of NSW and could therefore hold a firearms license under NSW law. He was not a farmer who would need a firearm (let alone half a dozen); He lived in the Sydney suburb of Bonnyrigg.
